Instructors Q&A

We asked our instructors how you can help your middle schooler be successful this year. Here is what they had to say:

Parents continue to be involved in your child's learning, even while we're virtual.
Learning is for life.
Get to know your child's teacher, attend virtual Parent Night.
Work on organizational skills with your child, they are busier now than ever.
Know your school's policy on bullying and teasing.
Get involved: speak at career day, chaperone school events, join PTA/PTO.

Leadership

Michelle Weaver, Founder and CEO

My daughter recently finished up her first year of middle school. One night, last fall, I was multi-tasking…cooking, thinking about a client meeting for an upcoming business trip, following up on work emails, all while and trying to help her with her math homework. We were both becoming increasingly frustrated and I impatiently said, “Go call your Uncle…he’s great in math!” Exasperatedly, she gave him a call and 10 minutes later she was good to go and had the answers she needed! Fast forward, three months later, I was hosting a football playoff party and my daughter (again) needed a little bit of help preparing for a math test the next day. My focus and energy was on the game, which my home team was losing, I said to her, “ask your Aunt, she’s a middle school math specialist!” Right there my dear friend, my daughter’s godmother, worked with her for 15 minutes and guess what, that was all she needed. I said to myself, and my family, there is a need for children and parents to receive assistance (relief!) with homework assignments without the long term commitment of tutoring. Wondering how this story ends? My daughter made 100% on her test the next day.

One thing I know for sure is, many families experience some version of my story…every day.

I’m Michelle Weaver, I have worked for some of the largest, global market research and technology enterprises for most of my adult life. I’m a native Houstonian and spent over a decade living in New York City. What brought me the greatest joy and sense of accomplishment was HELPING clients find solutions to their complicated problems while building trusting relationships at the same time. I have shifted my focus to helping families, children specifically, navigate the complexities of figuring out that nagging school assignment, when you wish you had a few minutes to connect with your teacher. I look forward to helping you and your loved ones.
